Summer Camp

Following the passing of social activist and Red Thread co-founder Andaiye, on May 31st 2019, family, friends and Red Thread members agreed that the best way to honor Andaiye is by committing to continue her work to understand the world we live in, in order to challenge and transform what she has described as “the power relations embedded in every facet of our lives.” (The) Andaiye Foundation: The Point is to Change the World, is in the process of being established. With recognition of caring work as its starting point, the Foundation will focus on the health and well-being of women and children, and will also emphasize the importance of creative work and cultural production in the project of political, economic and social transformation.

In August 2019, we began this work with a Summer Camp, as a living legacy dedicated to Andaiye’s memory.
